I am so sorry. I can't imagine how hard it must be to pour yourself out so literally and then to have it end this way. Jesus, be near.

Thank you for sharing though I know it hurts. I will keep praying for you and for Hubie's family. My heart is broken for all of you.

Ali, thanks for reminding me that it's okay to be broken by what happens around you. So often I look at the pictures on my wall and wish that it still didn't hurt, but hurting is okay.

We ask God why. Why? Why couldn't you save Hubert?

Time will tell. There are two boys in Alberta, CA right now that I'm sure are still wondering why they couldn't have walked down a trail faster. I know there's a dad wondering still why he let his daughter walk that trail that day. There's a brother wondering if he had used the ipod that day, if she would have heard the man behind him.

Why? I don't know.

Hurting is okay.

And you will let God pick up your broken pieces to mend you and you will put yourself out there again and again knowing that you might experience another heart break but you do it because though you can't stop the Huberts in this life from drawing their last breath, you CAN and DO minister to the loved ones who are left breathing and need to see the light of the One True Healer shine through your tears! You are needed, dear sister, in more ways than you realize. Blessings to you for your obedience to His call on your days.

Bless baby Hubert's family, and bless you for doing all that you do - and being honest and open enough to bare your pain to the world. Thoughts and prayers with you all.

Oh Ali. Thank you for your writing from your heart.

Hubie (and you) taught his Mama and, more importantly, his Papa to care. Maybe that was enough even though it hurts so much.

As a mama whose baby died and was taken away, I want to say thank you. Thank you for the kindness and compassion you showed them in caring for their child, even after he was gone. The man who took our child's body away did the same, and I have never forgotten his kindness. Neither will they. You were the hands of Jesus.

Ali, Ali, Ali. I read this with tears in my eyes. You are changing lives with your hands and love in Benin and through your words all over the world. Your honesty is unreal. God will mend you- never doubt that "He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds." (Psalm 147:3) Praying for Jesus to be near to you.

"Praise be to the God and Father or our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God." 2Cor.3-4
You and the other nurses provided God's comfort and compassion to Hubert and his family. Not one ounce of that will God waste. My prayer for you and the others is that you will now allow God to bathe you in the same compassion and comfort. Ecclesiastes tells us there is a time and season for everything, a time to weep and a time to mourn.Thank you for being the hands and heart of God and the 'sweet aroma of Christ' good and faithful servant.
In His love,
Diane Zickell
