Here in the states, I have had nurses try to get iv's in my girls as many as 5 times before I screamed, "Stop! Get another nurse." Was the first nurse offended? Sure, but so was my kid! And the second nurse always gets it on the first try and says how good their veins are. To have a self-imposed limit shows you value the patient. God bless. And thanks. Even though you are half a world away, thanks for being such a great nurse. :-)

My first inclination was to send this to all the nurses I know who are in the states. My second inclination was to tell you again how much I appreciate your posts, and your heart, and your soul, and your sacrifice. Then... I thought to myself "I hope I make it to the ship while she's still there so I can hug her and spill it all out in person."

I had to laugh from the very first paragraph. My nursing in a developing country is done in an open field, and my weekly visit is the entertainment for the whole community! So I hear ya sister! It's a different world here in Africa!
