God Bless you both. I am so relieved. I know you are a little sad, but you need to take care of yourself so you can go back to the ship and save lives.

I'm so thankful for that peace that carries one even when nothing else makes immediate sense. God speed you and keep you as you head for "home." Keep praying for His will to be done on earth, as it is in heaven, and we will too.

It is NOT failure, it is all part of His plan. Just REST there "in the shelter of His wings". We'll be praying and waiting for updates!

I agree, not a failure. It's hard to make these decisions, but God's got everything figured out. Keep His peace with you and don't be discouraged! We miss you guys and are praying for safe travels. May this hiatus be a blessing beyond what you can imagine!!

I'm praying for you, Wilks. Maybe we need to plan a mini-reunion which involves us driving down to see you... ;-)

Ali, you will be in my thoughts and prayers as you head for home. I don't think this is a failure at ALL, just part of your journey. Feel better soon.

Praying for you. God is Sovereign, even through our disappointments and unexpected changes to our plans. I am recovering from a year long battle with inflammation in my spine related (we believe) to my multiple autoimmune diseases. I understand what you are going through. The goals and plans thwarted (for how long?- we ask). I'm a triathlete and sitting on the sidelines hasn't been easy. But I wouldn't trade the last year for what God has taught me about Him and my position in Him. No matter what I can or cannot do, I belong to Him. And so do you. Thought you might find this song encouraging:

Blessings by Laura Story

We pray for blessings
We pray for peace
Comfort for family, protection while we sleep
We pray for healing, for prosperity
We pray for Your mighty hand to ease our suffering
All the while, You hear each spoken need
Yet love is way too much to give us lesser things

'Cause what if your blessings come through raindrops
What if Your healing comes through tears
What if the thousand sleepless nights are what it takes to know You're near
What if trials of this life are Your mercies in disguise

We pray for wisdom
Your voice to hear
We cry in anger when we cannot feel You near
We doubt your goodness, we doubt your love
As if every promise from Your Word is not enough
And all the while, You hear each desperate plea
And long that we'd have faith to believe

When friends betray us
When darkness seems to win
We know the pain reminds this heart
That this is not, this is not our home

What if my greatest disappointments
Or the aching of this life
Is the revealing of a greater thirst this world can't satisfy
What if trials of this life
The rain, the storms, the hardest nights
Are your mercies in disguise

I'm glad to know you will be getting the care your body is telling you it needs. May God continue to watch over you as you travel.

Good for you for listening to yourself even when the message doesn't totally make sense. Take extra-good care and I am sending you loving healing vibes.

The Lord bless you and keep you;
the Lord make his face shine upon you,
and be gracious unto you;
the Lord lift up his countenance upon you
and give you his peace.
Wait for what/where He has planned for you!!
Looking forward to seeing you both, refreshed, in Sierra Leone.

You two are in my prayers each day. I am happy to hear you are going to go and take care of yourself. You have so much more to give but the world needs you healthy. May God continue to bless you both.

Oh, Ali, that's a bummer. But I hope that God will give you answers about what is going on and that you will be on the road to good health and preparing for Sierra Leone soon! Thank you so much for all that you have shared with us during your time in Peru!

Ali dear, it isn't failure at all. Only a new turn in the path -- the one path that God has called you to walk. He knows. He is with you.

I hope and pray for your return to good health, I know oh so well what it is to be unexpectedly unwell, in pain, desiring answers; my abilities and life have changed much, due to serious health concerns.

I am glad you are taking this time to heal and rest. Peace and blessings to you both!
