What a strange gray area to be hovering around in. It crunches my heart up to read about what you're going through emotionally, and my first impulse is to offer advice... except that I have none. I have yet to see what you have, at least not beyond news articles and wrenching television programs. For what it's worth, you have challenged the complacency that comes so easily to me. I pray that God will comfort you, direct your path, and give you wisdom.

Does your fiancé feel the same?

My dear fiancé has been travelling the world for the past few years, and has moved around a lot before that, so he's lost the strangeness I feel. I just keep expecting to feel properly at home here, and I don't. He just kind of naturally feels at home wherever he goes. I have much to learn.

My goodness, that sounds like a tough place to be in Ali. I pray the gray becomes black or white soon.

I kind of feel like that feeling is a good one in some ways, because once we forget, we go back into the same old way of doing life. I hope you will remain changed, but for the better, and that you can work out a way to successfully blend your two worlds.

ps - try volunteering in the inner-city somewhere . . . those kiddos will love on you and you can hold anyone's babies and it's just wonderful! :-)

Oh, Ali. This one made me sad. I hope you find something very soon that makes your heart happy again. You are someone quite special.
