Sounds like a really good memory. Both today's event, and the memory it evoked. Enjoy the rest of your day. :-)

Hey, I've never commented, but i thought I would because I'm a faithful reader of yours. I started reading when you were on the last mercy ship before you came home and got married. I love reading your blog because..well, you are very gifted in writing and funny, but also because I like to read your blog to my kids (I have five) and it give them and ME a bigger world view. Yes...there really is more out there then middle class america and comfort and ease. Anyway, I was telling my friend about your blog and she has a friend who has also been on a Mercy Ship. Her friends name is Anne McFarland and she said she knew you. Funny, huh. Small world. Anyway, I'm glad you had a nice weekend and enjoyed your Liberian greens. I actually made them once for a friend who was a MK and loved Liberian greens. They were....interesting.:-)

Hi Ali!
Nice to meet you. I ventured over from Challies.com. I like the HoJ reference. We have a "van of joy". We say it jest when our kids are all screaming in the van waiting for us to join them and get on the road! Can't imagine your adventures! God bless.

Haha! Love this. I was just told about an African restaurant by a few Ghanaians in my program (because I've been harassing them to cook for me). I am so excited to check this place out because they are rumored to have potato greens! I've been wanting some for months so I know the feeling.

Hope I'll be able to join in scratching that itch. Much love to you and P-man!

Hi Ali, (say hi to HoJ for me, I talk with him from time to time on chat).

Did Oretha from the kitchen cook them? I was so glad to hear that she came back and is crew (that was the plan, but you never know how things go...), I knew it was nice for Peter that John also was able to come back as day worker again (traveling from Liberia).

If she didn't tell phil just to say tyrone said hello and to let (phil) him know whenever she's cooking a good liberian meal, if I know her she would be happy to share or cook a plate for you guys! (I still got a little pull here from the states).

I still keep in touch with several in the kitchen and I personally miss her beans and chicken feet, followed by a spicy pumpkin and chicken dish.
