Oof, so sorry things are hard right now... I know that "stranger in a strange land" feeling and it's not fun at all. In the past, it's helped me to remind myself that it's only temporary; soon you'll be moving on to new adventures; this isn't forever and it might just not be the right fit, etc. etc.

And in the meantime, I'm sending sunny vibes to you and friendly vibes to the other people you're hanging out with. I, for one, think it would be very cool to get to have dinner with you, and they are lucky people even if they don't know it yet. :-)

I think you will enjoy getting to explore that town and getting to know/see the people of India.

I can relate to the sick to your stomach feeling and reacting to smells. That happened to me the first few days we were in India. It might have been the malaria medicine as well! Everything was just so different and we definitely did not feel comfortable with anything, but we are not as seasoned of travelers as you are!

Does your HOJ speak Hindi? That would make things so much easier.

I can't wait to hear more of your adventures in India. I hope it improves!

I'm currently petitioning my husband to take me back to India, the land of his family, for our anniversary next year. You're seriously making me rethink that one. :} Thank God for husbands!! Mine has been to me lately what yours is to you in a strange and lonely world/time. I pray that your time there improves and that you are able to somehow touch a life with your sunshine! hugs, d
