This is beautiful! I appreciate your perspective on home — for your "home" is so very different right now from mine. Simple and heart wrenching and foreign from the snow falling and the running kids to school and the busyness of my "home." Blessings to you as you do God's work in a foreign land and love on His people.

Beautiful, Ali. I understand completely, and you so often perfectly word what is jumbled up in my heart and soul.

Dear Ali,
You probably get sick of hearing it, but I am gonna say it anyway:
You are an inspiration!
Last year our family took the pathetically small step to sponsor one little boy through Compassion International. I just had to sponsor another in Africa, without telling my husband, because some things don't warrant a discussion. It has changed our entire family's life. Then I read the book Radical and the book 7. I now cry all the time about brown skinned children who were born to poverty and yet I was born to absorbent wealth.I picked up a globe second hand, brought it home and stared at it for like a half hour and started crying again. Somehow and sometime God is going to do something about all the crying, but I don't know what. I am going to follow your blog. Please pray for me.
Cheers,
Leah

Made my way here through Lisa-Jo's "Five Minute Friday," and I am so glad I did. Lovely, lovely, lovely is all I can say about your "home." I will be back to read more of your adventures in Africa. I have heard a lot about Mercy Ships and think the work you guys are doing is beautiful!

Grace and peace to you.
Kristi

I feel privileged to have my five minute friday post next to yours on Lisa-Jo Baker's website. You sound like an absolutely magnificent woman burdened for others. What a precious life the Lord is giving you! Bless you!

It's so beautiful, how Jesus' plan for your home is so different--and so much better--than what you dreamed of when you were younger. It's hard to remember, sometimes, that His plans and His ways are always better, always for our good...and sometimes it is really easy to believe that. I'm thankful that you share snippets of your life here, and thankful that it's easy for you to see the "better" in His plans for you!

You and your home are beautiful and the Lord is magnified though your words!
