Found out about your blog through Mercy Ships facebook connections :-) Thanks for being so opening and willing to share. Every time I read, it helps me to remember again who is in control of every situation - even my totally unrelated struggles.
Your post today made me think of the song All of You by Matt Hammitt. If you have not listened to the album Every Falling Tear I would recommend a listen.

Hi Ali, long time reader here.

Just wanted to tell you that your writings here have been a blessing to me personally.
Though our situations are different, the lessons that God has taught you which you have shared resonate in my life (and undoubtedly) the life of others as well.
In fact I am so convinced that one day you will be able to compile all your blog posts into a book, and when that happens I will buy as many copies as possible and ask (force) my friends to read it.

Know that you and your family will have my prayers.

God bless.

i sit here in tears reading your words...although we dont know each other, we have the heart of a mother and a love for Jesus in common....i pray for your unborn child...that God will restore his physical health and work His miracles in your child, so that your child may be that light, that miracle, that so many need to see in this yucky world...i pray for strength for you and your husband, that you both may grow closer together thru these next few months...that your relationship also beams that light that so many will see and be amazed, that the smiles and joy on your faces simply stuns onlookers, like that nurse.... God will see you thru all of this, your relationship with Him will grow to a depth not reached before...i will continue to pray for all of you...

This was just a beautiful post. I have a daughter with a congenital heart defect who was adopted from China and am part of a community of adoptive mamas who have adopted heart kiddos. They are all a very special bunch. Your last line "Because my son needs a mama who not only fights for him but who loves every little part of him and rejoices in his life, no matter how different that life might look from the one I dreamed of." is just a beautiful sentence and touched my heart so deeply...praying for you and your beautiful family!

Hi Ali,

I read your blog once a few years ago and it is what inspired me to become a nurse (I have one semester of university left!). I was talking to a fellow student about Mercy Ships today and told her about your blog, and noticed you are expecting a beautiful boy!

I wanted to tell you about a blog that my friend here in Australia wrote when she gave birth to her little boy. He had heart and kidney problems, and although he didn't have a happy ending, it's such an amazing blog written by an amazing woman, and I thought you might be interested in having a look. The address is http://facingpaige.wordpress.com

Hope you are well, and can't wait to hear about the arrival of your little boy.

PS- I went to high school in Haliburton with Phil, that's how I originally found your blog!
